Installations / Pathway to Somewhere (2015)

Inspired by a flowing river and the light that reflects off it and refracts within it. The river is important because it always flows. The different shapes created by the light that interacts with it represent snapshots in time, but the river keeps flowing. The river is relentless in a way that is awe-inspiring. For me, this resilience mimics the challenges I have faced living overseas for 15 years. The longer I am away from Japan, the more I feel I am floating along – gaining much, but also missing something from my past. Persevering, however, is what makes the journey worthwhile.
